Half Term

 This week was half term and it is almost over . I have not done much really as the weather has not been good. I HAD intended to garden and catch up with the laundry but bad weather and feeling a little under the weather myself put paid to that .

These BEAUTIFUL flowers were given to me last week from a pupil who's dad died. He had been ill for a very long time and I tried to make life in school a bit bearable for both of his children. They are both really lovely people and I KNOW he would be so proud of them.

We both love quotes and this will hang in my room at work .

Yayyy Its April

 I have LOADS to smile about this week. First up I am on Easter break from school - half way though which means I still have another week off ..yayyyyyy. With the clocks going back last weekend, the sun has shone in my bedroom almost every morning - SO much nicer getting up in daylight.

I have more time to cook and bake when I am not at work and I found another use for a stencil that I was given a few years ago and had not opened.

 My baby girl is 21 on Monday - we are off to see a show and shop tomorrow.

Always last to the party, I started watching yes STARTED, Game of Thrones this week- I need to catch up before the new series starts later this month am on season one atm ha ha .

So - lots of smiles - no jokes needed this week.

Happy Easter

 Long time no post!

  Our Children are all grown up now so we don't do that much at Easter - except rest. They are not too old for eggs so we all have one each - but just the one as we could all do with a little healthier eating.

 I cut the banner on the scan n cut - it took longer to thread up than to make! Don't look too close as I am sure there are cobwebs up there. Spring cleaning is on my list this Holiday.

and speaking of healthier eating ...........not!! 

I found this recipe on Pinterest. It uses hot cross buns and chocolate - yumm - there is none left today .

Its been windy and raining all night here in the UK - Poor hubby has been out working in it all night.

Friday Smiles

Not the best photo but we were so busy at school yesterday, I forgot to take a pic and had to do it once home again. Typical that my white gloves and red bow tie turned up WHILE I was at work!

I made the decorations for the hat and the spoon full of sugar ( Yes I am Mary Poppins!)

I was a bit hot in all that kit ha ha.

yayyyyyy it's Friday!!

The first week back after half term is always difficult. I have to try and be super organised again to fit in home and work ( and hopefully leisure too).

I am very happy to see Friday here and no cooking - very unhealthy fish n chips tonight. I have the new episode Of Greys to watch ( with a box of tissues) . A crop to look forward to on Sunday. and look what arrived this morning ...

Friday Smiles

Whats NOT to smile about - I am still on half term ( although it has gone too quickly!) ,

the sun is shining and its getting lighter.

 It was hubby's birthday yesterday - this is one of the gifts I got for him - which of course he loved- I did tell him that it is racist especially as I am English ( only part Welsh from my grandad ).

 Dan bought him these disgusting things.

And I made a chocolate cake - this is what it looked like BEFORE I hid it up! It was over 6 inches deep and in hindsight , I really aught to have leveled the bottom before I put ther buttercream on . When I went to get it ( hidden up in my craft room) , the Top has slid off onto my chair with my cardigan and jacket over the back- What a mess!! Cardi in washing machine - jacket damp cleaned ( wasn't too bad ) and cake reassembled. We couldnt light the candles as I still can't find the 5- hope no one eats it! Hubby was crying with laughter.

Another foodie post

 It's a bit too warm for these with the heating on. My pretty little roses. I did say not to get anything for Valentines ( after winding him up a bit ;)) . We have been married for 33 yrs this year and there are some days that I don't want to murder him ;). I guess he thought he'd play it safe ha ha .

 last nights tea was homemade Lasagna ( Dan's Fav) and raspberry and white chocolate Muffins.

Derek has said that he doesn't want me to go back to work - they get fed better when I am off! It will be a few more years before I can retire ( not that I want to - although an extra day at the weekend would be nice).

Inspired by pinterest

This half term I have been trying to mix up some of the food we eat by saving things onto Pinterest. I kidnap one of the others to sit with me and tell me what they might like for a change. It gets SO boring cooking the same things . 

We don't always have a desert - most of us don't need it!

I found this Lemon Mascarpone Roulade and thought I'd give it a go. I made too much whipped cream but no one complained.

Here is the photo that inspired me.

 They loved it.

This is what we had for our main meal ( also saved from pinterest) I forgot to photograph mine!

We didn't have tails on our prawns . 

HERE is the recipe. I used all fresh ingredients and just normal tesco mushrooms- I will definitely cook this again.

Friday Smiles

Ohh dear, It seems that I have neglected this blog for a little while. I DO have another- full of crafty stuff (here)

I have had lots so smile about too - it's just that Fridays are usually quite busy and I am not organised enough to create a post in time for the blog hop!

The biggest smile today is that we have reached half term again . Its not going to be great weather and its only a week off so I intend to just catch up on house work and spend the rest of the time in my craft room :)

Happy New Year

Back to work on Monday - at least i will know what day it is!

I spent all day the other day backing up my PC - 12 discs later-done.

I updated to Windows 10, which i am liking so far. The only problem i have is that my PC ( lenovo Ideacentre) now won't recognize my blue tooth keyboard. I have checked all the forums and this seems very common with no good results yet. I am now waiting for a usb keyboard to arrive as it takes so long to use this touchscreen one.

Friday Smiles on Saturday

 I was SO lucky to be able to go on the school media studies trip to Warner Brothers Studio in London to the Harry Potter tour on Friday.

 Here are the yr 10 and 11 students just before the class of photography. We were really lucky to sit in on the class where they were about film photography and learned lots of secrets of filming.

 The new station -  I loved that we could walk onto the train and look into the carriages.

 Butter beer Ice cream - slightly less sickly than the butter beer.

 I loved this bit of the tour - I used to be a beauty therapist and hairdresser and I even made a few hair pieces at college. At one point , this was the sort of job I wanted to do.

Late - Friday Smiles

I promise I WAS smiling Yesterday as we have finally come to half term. I didn't get home until almost 10pm though as we had a music evening , which was WONDERFUL. We have such talented pupils.
So it is now Saturday morning and I managed to get a lay in ( Yayyy) .
I do have loads to do and catch up on - New bathroom installed on Monday.  Gp and dentist appointments ( all boring) . Clearing the garden ready for spring ( I don't do winter gardening :) ). And......... the long awaited ATDML retreat next Friday ...Heaven .

Annie answered some questions and suggested that we also do the same . So here you go:

TIME: 9.50 am Saturday morning.

LOCATION:  I'm sat at my PC in my craft/dining room.

FEELING: Relaxed and stress free as I am on the first day of half term. ( It won't last as I am sure the bathroom being out of action for a few days will stress me - we only have one bath room and there are 5 of us!)

LOVING: Some peace and quite.

READING:  Still reading "the husbands secret" which I might actually get time to finish this week without falling asleep after 2 pages :)

DRINKING:  My first cup of coffee ( which has gone cold so i need a top up ) I will open a bottle of wine this evening as I don't cook on a Saturday ( we have Chinese ).

ANTICIPATING:  Definitely ATDML retreat - I need to get my stash sorted and packed.

LISTENING TO: My play list on iTunes ( especially when hubby is watching sport on TV )

WATCHING:  Hemlock Grove/ the walking dead? the black list is back on Friday

PLANNING:  To tidy and clean - ha ha its never ending. Hubby wants to go out on Sunday so looking for somewhere nice to go.

LOOKING FORWARD TO: Spring - I know autumn is pretty but there are too many bugs at school and they can't seem to get the heating right - I hate dark days So definitely Spring .

CREATING: A page or two in my art journal - all new to me so enjoying new products and new ways to use old ones. Tags, Christmas cards ( 100's to do) and mini calenders for work mates( the list gets longer each year!)

NEED TO FINISH:  This post and get on with it all ;)

WISHING:  Definitely for warm sunny days and that we all get though the Winter bug free.

MAIN GOAL THIS WEEK: Pack :D

Quick Catch up

Watching ...

We really like fairytale/horror in our house which is weird as I hate horror films.

Hubs and I are almost at the end of season one - season three is about to start soon, so we need to get a move on.

 We started watching this one ( it makes me jump a bit though) daughter is already finishing season two ( there are at least 10 seasons)

Reading ....

 Half way though this book on my kindle - its funny as a work colleague has just read it too and recommend it to be and i was already reading it.

 This was delivered last week. I LOVE nick Sparks and have read everyone of his books . Can wait to start on this one.

Days out ....

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to go to the Globe theater to see this. It was an evening performance and we left  straight after school at 4pm and got home at 1.30- I was not that well and I am sure I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't have such a bad head cold. It was still a lovely experience.

Friday smiles

Missed the last two Fridays :( 

I have had stuff to smile about - just been so busy! 

Last Friday I went to the Globe theater straight after work to see "measure for measure" , we got back at 2am and by then I was full of cold. Its well on the way out now thank goodness.

   

Today my baby boy is 22. I love him to bits. He is such a sweetie. This photo was taken earlier in the year, the facial hair has gone now. He asks for very little and when he is not doing voluntary work or winding up his sisters, is a joy to have around.

Friday Smiles

The Sunflowers :)

Wow all I can say is Thank heavens for Friday!! Its been a loooong week. Daughters support still not sorted and the SW is on holiday now grrr.

 Last weekend I was busy , went out for a meal and then to see "The curious incident of the dog in the night" (very good!). Took daughter to get some new glasses (vision express - not VERY express as they will take three weeks!) .

I plan on doing the minimum this weekend - that means a bit of tidying, cleaning , laundry and lots of crafting!!

Sooooo I was wondering....
