Come on Summer!

Its a dark rainy day here in East Anglia, so no sitting in the garden.
I am never very inclined to do much when there is no light - the rain I can live with but no sunshine? :(

Looks like I shall be reading my new book .

Happy Birthday Mum - I miss you every day xx

Friday Smiles

I thought I'd show you how tall the sunflowers are getting - I have tied them back now as they are well over 7 foot and no where near ready to flower yet.
***
Hubby works nights and has a shift of 4 days on and two off, that means it's never the same two days and during term time we don't get too many days off together. As I am still on holiday and his two days off start today - we are off out . Now it might not seem THAT exciting when I tell you where.
Our "children" ( adults) all have learning/mental heath/heath problems so don't drive or get out as much as I would like them to . I told them all to choose somewhere that they would like to go and normally wouldn't get chance. Natalie ( 30 yrs) loves scrap booking and creating and although she often has access to my supplies ( plus loads of her own) has asked to go to the Range ( she has her list ready :) ).

Dan ( 21yrs) Typical boy - loves the slot machines and has been saving coins for ages.
So we are off to Ipswich to the Range and then on to Felixstowe for the penny arcade and hopefully something to eat.

Megan ( 20 yrs) has chosen the cinema and she is going next week with hubby ( some super hero film). Hopefully everyone will be happy . If they let me take photos, I will share later.

If you would like to share YOUR smiles on a Friday , HERE is the link to Annie's blog - where it all starts.

A catch up

I have just finished reading this book which I loved. I have also read "Sister" and "afterwards" . Theses are the only books she has written so far, and I can highly recommend them all .

Derek and I found this on netfilx and are already on season three! we watch one episode before he goes to bed off nights ( having our lunch) and one before he goes to bed after teatime.

This is my daughter Meg's FAV programme and we have to all sit and watch it with her on a Wednesday - Tonight ( after 5 seasons) we finally find out who "A" is - Meg has been doing my head in all day with excitement and theories.

Still can't hand washing out in the garden except on Sundays  because of the major construction/demolition site across the road causing so much dust. Can't really sit in the garden ( for same reasons - dust and noise) . Also the house next door is being gutted as it has finally been sold.

This Weeks Smiles

The Sunflowers are taller than me! Still not quite ready to bloom yet though - How spectacular will they be.

This cutie hanging outside the back door
Tubs of flowers , tomatoes and my herb tub ( don't look at the wall- Dan must have wanted to move when he was 10 as he painted "for sale" on the wall and I just can't get it off !! - He's 21 now!!)

More sunflowers at the end of the garden. Hubby removed all the climbers in the spring and we are going to replant and hopefully put in a raised boarder to hide some of the brick walls.

A little late I know but tomatoes finally flowering (grown from seed)

First timer a growing a chili plant.

The only thing spoiling things is the dust! There are major building works across the road at the moment and even though I have hosed down the windows and table , it comes back every day- not much longer to go now though.

I started a bereavement support  course while I was at school and just have one more section to do and then the final assessment - yayy.

I live in a council house and called the repair men out as we have a leaky tap in the bathroom ( I am not good a plumbing and don't think hubby would have a clue either) Anyway a lovely young man popped out today and then asked two inspectors to look at the bathroom - we are getting a brand new bathroom even a new floor - how wonderful is that? I was expecting a new washer . Anyway enough waffling - If you would like to join in with the smiles HERE is the link.

They're Back!

This is the second pile of washing - first already in although its been pouring for about 24 hrs now - May have to shove it in the tumble dryer.

For a whole week , the living room - in fact the whole house has been reasonably tidy - ahh well .
They had a horrendous journey back from Cornwall yesterday - It took them over 12 hrs!! Loads of traffic queues and awful weather.
I will add some of thier photos later in the week.

Part 2

We seem to be happy with the colour. Need to scrub the stain from hairline though.

No before shots from dort No1 I cut a good 2" off as it was getting difficult for her to manage.

She sufferer's from Trichotillomania- google it - it's not that uncommon. New parting to hide small bald patch.

Next we need to tackle the eyebrows

 A little tamer.

A cool cucumber face mask and Relax almost ready for her holiday .

Just gotta cuts Son's hair but maybe tomorrow .

Hairdressing and Beauty therapy - Part 1

Most people I know, know that I trained to be a hairdresser in 1976 and a Beauty therapist in 1979.
I tried to give up in 1982  but was the station barber at RAF Aldergrove until 1985 and since then has always cut and now coloured my families hair.

When Megan turned 16, she was delighted to find out what my former career was and always puts me to good use!! She has has red hair fort a few years now but thought a change was due and came home with some slightly purply dye .  Unfortunately because she chooses such vibrant colours, they do tend to fade, even with the small fortune we spend on her hair products.

Roots done  and 25 mins later ..

All one and we wait ...the bit I hate the most - washing it all off - kills my back in our piddly bathroom.

Not quite Dry - Will photo graph when it is.

Have also shaved hubby's head and cut Dort No1 but she has dissapeard.
still have Son's hair to do ( if he EVER gets Up) . For me now ....a bath !

Garden update

Just a quickie- things are slowly growing - here is my herb pot next to the back door - I LOVE basil .

 Some of the pots

The baby tomatoes that we grw from seed are coming along nicely.

We replaced the ones that Dex killed ( by over feeding) but they will be a bit late now - hopefully the weather will be kind.

My pretty white hydranger just starting to flower- its a bit twiggy , so I MUST remember to cut it right back this Autumn.

 Some of Dex sunflowers
Some more

My job next weekend- To remove all this - There is a garage under there AND a door!

Chilli plant - never grown one before - its flowering - we shall see .
That's it for now .
Enjoy a Sunny weekend

Meet Lily

Lily is a tiny owl ( still very young ) . She is as big as she is going to get . Natalie was gifted her adoption on her 30th Birthday by my sister and BIL at the end of April. Natalie was over joyed to finally be going to visit her. Unfortunately when we arrived at  her cage, she was hiding under a large plant. A kind attendant popped her on the perch for us to see her.

It was a very hot day yesterday , but thankfully there was a lot of shade in there.

After breakfast and a look at all the other birds, we watch a few displays ( photos on hubbies camera) before we went shopping.
If you are in the area, Stonham Barns is a lovely place to visit.
