An eventful day

Meg has had a cold and sore throat over the Christmas hol- nothing much to worry about. Just extra blood testing to make sure blood sugar levels don't get too high. Then she started to throw up , not eat or drink and after 24 hours of this and some high blood sugars, I was worried about her have high ketyones so to be safe called the out of hours NHS line. They sent over a paramedic to make sure. The paramedic said he was not too worried but had made an appointment for us to see the out of hours doc at Ipswich hospital. So we made our way there and were told to wait. The place was HEAVING !1 there were at least three doctors working but we still had to wait for two hours to be seen. There were lots of people moaning about the service - I just felt sorry for the staff.
After seeing the doctor- he said there WERE keytones in her urine, we needed to go to the assessment ward in the hospital in case they wanted to run though some fluid to flush her system. We signed in and then waited... They took bloods, Urine and put a line in just in case. A doctor examined her after a couple of hours ( really busy here too). he was concerned that she had a lot of pain in her lower abdomen and wanted her to be seen by a surgeon just in case it was appendicitis. She had an x ray of her chest - I have to say they were very thorough. More waiting.... they took more blood tests and all the other testing. I was worrying the whole time about Dan and Nats being at home alone and my battery was not charged on my phone- i had remembered to bring my external charger but forgot the lead! luckily Meg had her lead so I was able to charge her phone and call Dan every hour to check on them. Still more waiting..... Dex had come straight home from work at about midday to get us to Ipswich, so had not had any sleep. We were moved onto a ward but still hadn't seen a surgeon and had no idea if we had to stay. Meg said she was feeling better and wanted to go home ( the av age of the ladies on the ward was 70). We were all tired and getting hungry now - even Meg.Derek popped out to get us a sandwich and a glucose drink for Meg. The surgeon came and said he was not worried about her , that he did not think she had appendicitis and we could go once the ward doc said we could. We asked a nurse how long this might be and she told us that he was really busy and it would be a few hours. This was at 11pm - but this time I was REALLY worried about Nats anfd Dan, tired and fed up . Meg was complaing about the canunelar in her hand and wanted to go home. So we ended up discharging opurselves at 11.30pm. Meg is fine today- has been sleeping and drinking.

Merry Christmas!

Well thats it for another year. I am not the biggest fan of Christmas- I miss my parents, sister and son . Its is also pretty stressful sometimes. I have to say not too many big disasters this year. Nats was ill for a weel before hand and had to miss a few things, Meg is not well full of cold, lost her voice and this morning feels sick ( not great when you are also diabetic!) .
The hoover died yesterday, so we need to shop for a new one ( as well as a fridge- already on the list) .
Other than that not too bad :)
Poor Dex is back at work today . I have until 6th Off - yayy. I do still have loads of stuff to make. The soaps and bath bombs seemed to have gone downm well - I may make some more :)
My course work all got handed in and accepted on time . Just waiting for final result.
Heres a few pics of our Christmas day 2014....
 LOADS of Gifts!

A quiet moment on the x box before "they" get up.

And we are ready, we usually open one prez and then have brekki ( homemade pancakes, bacon and mapel syrup) . Then attack the rest.

Natalie loves owls and now IS one!

I was pleased that Meg asked for an x box 360 and not an x box one - she is very happy :)

Happy New Year !!

Massage bars

The Massage bars use similar ingredients to the lip balms. They are just slightly harder ( use a little more bees wax) and instead of flavours, you use essential oils.
So far I have made rose and lemon bars ( cakes) - I use the silicone muffin cases and fill the about half full. I shall make more but have run out of some of my ingredients.
Amazon SHOULD have delivered today - so much for garenteed one day delivery!
Looks like it will be Monday now.

I STILL havent had a go at making bathbombs - I do have everything ready to make them - except time!
Another 1500 word essay to do this weekend . I have almost finished my course now, just a few weeks to go . I am pleased to say that I am on track.
Now have to go be a taxi driver..

And more Soap!

First a re cap on the lemon soap- I dyed it a pale lemon and tried to swirl the colours into the bar - unfortunately - the colours just stayed on the top but I still like the look and the soap has a lovely delicate lemon zest smell ( I might use more essential oil next time )
***
The lip balm got a good revue from my tester :) I think its still a little hard So when I make my next lot, I will add more butter and oil.
***
The poppy seed that I put on top of the Coconut soap bar, all fell off as I had suspected and the ones on the bottom , mixed in the whole bar but worked quite well.
***

While this soap doesnt look much, - I need to work on my decoative abilities- It smells HEAVENLY!
Dyed a pale purple - usining red and blue dye - I have no purple (yet).
The essential oil is Violet- Yummm.

Lip gloss and more soaps

Last night I made tinted lip balm - I have sent one off to be tested and will let you know what my tester thinks.

Tonight its Coconut scented goatsmilk soap with blue poppy seeds.
I put a tea soop on the bottom of the first mould but as you can see, theyt all mixed in - I dont mind as it will give a nice texture to the soap for scrubbing. The second one has the seeds pressed into the top but I guess quite a few may fall off when I take it out of the mould.

Lastly , I made some lemon scented goastmilk soap to slice up when set. I have swirled some yellow colouring in the soap so , hopefully it will look good when sliced- We shall see!

Not enough hours!!

Even though it is half term  (and I have been laying in till 8) there is still so much to do!
I started a Level 4 course in October and have to finish by December. I have a 1500 word essay to do this week and a few other bits and pieces - just did a 600 word evaluation on a lesson from last week.

Need to get done so I can get to my craft desk - underneath.
I also have *homework* from Megan's social worker - some MORE forms that I was hoping she would do!! Poor Meg cant get support until they are sorted , so thats first on my list this afternoon.
I said I would tidy the garden up - I MAY do a before and after pic , if it gets done! It will also require the hiring of a skip!
I have a haircut booked for tomorrow and I need to pack for the ATDML retreat on Friday - SO looking forward to that!

Will be back with photos of That!

Little update

Still sorting out the craft room/office. Things will be tidier when I get the chance to sort though bags of papers to shred and get the filing done. I found a chest of drawers to put my 12" x 12" papers in , so there was a little reoganisation to do - Those cream boxes have now been replaced with larger black ones that houis my rubber stamps.

Last weekend my sis took me along to the craft fair at Thetford . I didn't have much money on me but manages to come back with a couple of stamp sets . LOVE those kaisercraft ones and just LOOK at the price!

I am loving the table covering for the craft room . I got it from here I have to say , I have not seen anywhere cheaper.

Getting There

I have finally finished painting and wallpapering. New curtains and pole put up. Sorry I picked the dullest day to photograph! but there is still more light than before :)

That filing cabinet needs to be emptied and shredded and filled with more recent rubbish ;)
I need to find somewhere for the stuff on top of it to go as well.

I moved my Pc , So I moved Steph as well .

I need to sort desk out ( a slightly smaller one would be better too) . New Chair coming soon to match decor. I am always looking for cellotape - I found six rolls!

Longer leads/cable ordered to go along coving out of the way, until then , the duster reminds me to step OVER!!

A small expedit ( gotta LOVE Ikea) as a cutting station - underneath dies, embossing folders and other cutting devices.

I still have SO much stuff and as you can see it doesnt all fit!!
I have also orderd new chairs for the dining table- just incase we ever use it as it is meant to be.
Ohh and I need to pop to the Range to get a white/grey/cream table cover.

I have some storage boxes coming to make better use of the space and make it look tidier.
I need to sort something out for my papers too.

As I said...getting there :)

If you scroll down past my london trip post, you can see the dreadful state it was in. I just Love it now.

A day in London

 Sorry - lots of photos!
I have wanted to go on the London Eye for sometime and was going last year in the summer hols. We didn't get to go mostly due to fiances. So, this year we bought a money box and saved a little every week . It paid for our train tickets, meals, river trip, a poppy and tickets on the Eye :).

After following Steven Sutton ( the wonderful young man who recently died of brain cancer) and having attended funerals of very young ex pupils from school- I wanted to make sure I made a bucket list and do some of the things on it -sooner ,rather than later. The London Eye was one of them :)
I am not brilliant with heights but this was wonderful!

After our trip on the Eye, we decided to wander along the Thames- lots of people had told us where to go and what to see but, to be honest, we had been to most places before . Neither of us had walked along the Thames before. We went from Westminster to the Tower of London .
It was the prefect day (most of the time) Not too hot or too cold and we loved the buildings, bridges and culture along the way. I have to say that I was shocked to find out that it was only 2.5 miles that we walked. My feet say at least 5!!

There was lots to see along the way.A few people like this young man (he was the best ) I took about six photos and I am sure he didn't even blink!

We also met Captain Jack ( I wish!!)

I cycled some of the way ;)

 London Bridge
 The view from the bridge

 Amazing architecture .

The tower of London with more than 880,000so far being placed. They go all the way round. Very humbling .

Each one will be packaged and sent to the person who ordered it after 11th November this year.

 Lisa's birthday is 11th November :)

After we sheltered from the rain for a little while, we took a river trip back to Westminster and were very entertained by the along the way by the tourist speech.

We had our dinner at a lovely Italian restaurant and then sat for a while by the bridge.

The photo doesn't depict how amazing the sky was over our favourite building - Whitehall court. So Gothic looking.

One last shot of the London Eye from the ground before we had to set off for the train.
Already saving for next years adventure.

***
I do have to say a big Thank you to Derek for looking after Meg ( who had an awful tummy bug , was throwing up - not great when you are diabetic! and couldn't eat all day).  And sorting out a problem with some of Dans friends who thought it would be fun to take a BB gun to football and he got a pellet in his bum!! Unbelievable! ( He is fine by the way). Meg is also much better today.

ohh the shame!

My craft room is our dinning room and is well overdue a make over!
This is my work space.

I am painint the walls a pale grey and getting rid of those curtains. There is not really enough light in there - even in the summer- So I need to put the table infront of the window and add some lighting too.
Those chairs are all wobbly and are already thrown out.

I cannot even get to the filing cabinet ( which needs completely sorting out!) - Having three children with disabilities means a MOUNTAIN of paperwork.

 The floor!!

My cupboard is being replaced by an extra large expedit - I bought it just before they stopped making them.

My pc desk - also needs tidying big time.

I am about half way though - two walls have been painted and funiture moved- I still need to do my desk wall and dismantel the cupboard- Then i have the real work- sorting all the stash out!!
All needs to be done in the next two weeks.
