Height of Summer

 I am far too short! But ......I am taller than my sisters (just!) 

I am about 5 foot -maybe - I think i am shrinking. 

The pic above is of me , a year 11 pupil ( of normal height) and my boss.

This is a photo of me , my beautiful niece, her mum , my sister is only 4 foot 10! She is wearing impossible heels but is still taller than me. My hubby is standing next to her- he is very useful in Tesco :0 I even loan him out ( to other little old ladies) to reach stuff on the top shelf.

I will try to get a photo of myself;f with Dan (our son) and hubby - that ought to prove comical.

Even though I am very short, i refuse to be intimidated by taller people - they DO try at school, but they don't get very far ;) I usually tell them that i am twice as tall as they are in my mind :)

The Reaction

Please excuse his chest! It is really hot and he never wears much except shorts most of the time - His ASD makes wearing clothes uncomfortable as well.

He is over the moon with the room and keeps coming up to me to hug me and say "thanks". I know he will keep it tidy (OCD ;)) And he even has the windows open at the moment.

He has not put any poster up yet and says he will leave it for now.

 

I need to do another room now :(

Finished

 I have even updated stuff on his PC. He needs a new chair but funds have dried up for the mo.

Hopefully he will like it, its lighter and has a tiny bit more space ( it is a VERY small room)

The windows have been open all week ( he never opens the windows or curtains !!) 

I would love to chuck this in the skip! I would like to get some cube storage with pull out boxes for this t shirts and shorts etc. Dan never throws anything away as part of his OCD he loves to collect stuff - i am in trouble for chucking away a few soft toy dogs that were under his bed but i have been really good and kept most things and even tidied them up a bit - i am sure he will get things the way he wants when he gets home late tomorrow.

The Boys Room

 This photo was taken six years ago - That awful wallpaper is wood chip and was on the wall when we moved in ,in 1998!!!The skirting boards , door frame and radiator were painted purple and there were fire engines on the wall too. Poor boy- well over due a "do over"!

 Its a small room about 31/2 x 2 1/4 meters but it took me two full days to get that awful paper off.I was worried about what would be underneath. I found a couple of holes and a patchwork of different colours- could have been worse.

 I wallpapered just one wall ( the paper is from Next) and the rest of the walls I pained a soft Grey . With white radiator etc- already looks bigger, lighter and a lot cleaner.

 I LOVE the tab top curtains ( also from Next) 

Just stopped to have lunch and then will be laying the carpet and sorting furniture out- I have a desk , shelves and bedside table to assemble as well as lots of "sorting" or disposing of  as much as I can get away with. I am already in trouble for removing the window stickers. They are home on Sunday so I am well on track :)

Scarey

How quickly the time is going!! Already had nearly two weeks holiday :( I have been very lazy just pottering about recharging my batteries.I have read three books and am now half way though the fourth. caught up with the laundry (twice) ...They will keep wearing the bloody Clothes!
Tomorrow will be six months without Steph - I miss her SO much.
Chris (her ex boss) will be cycling 60 miles around the coast tomorrow to raise money for Macmillan Cancer in Steph's memory. Last year her had her cheering him on, I am guessing it will be harder this year. He like Meg, is type 1 diabetic so it is no mean feat. He has raised £3330 so far. How amazing is that! LINK
I shall be busy tomorrow as I have promised Dan that I would completely re do his room - I have exactly one week to do it in while he is away. I am crossing my fingers that there's nothing too awful underneath the woodchip paper already on the wall. It will be fun getting that off!!

Relaxing

 Watched this DVD at the weekend - very funny!

 We ALL ( yes ALL) went to Southwold on Tuesday. It was a beautiful day.

 We sat in the coffee shop on the pier.

 Walked from the beach into Town and back.

 Popped into a pub for a drink on the way home.

 Very pretty it was too.

Southwold survived ( although i did scare a pupil from school ;))

I had done loads of tidying and laundry - even spent two hours ironing yesterday. But today I read this book- yes the whole book! It was easy to read and a sweet story.

Tomorrow I have to dye Megs hair :(

Summer Holdays

Have now begun :)
We have said goodbye to all the staff leaving and retiring. 
I went to work today for the last time till September 3rd. Just to catch up on paper work and tidy up before the painter comes back to finish what he started at Easter.It was a nice day, especially as I was able to go in late, leave early and actually eat lunch at a table! There were only a few of us in so we all took picnic type food and shared a lovely lunch. I made Key lime pie.
The Summer hols look busy already and I am not even going away!
Tomorrow we are off to the beach for the day.
I am going to be saving £25 a week taking Natalie to her workshop twice a week instead of paying for a taxi- so that's Mondays and Wednesdays sorted.
I shall be re doing Dan's room - I did Megan's last year, so it is definitely his turn, especially as he still has trains on the wall ( the poor boy is 18!!). It needs to be completely re done and has that horrible anaglypta wallpaper on it - so that will be fun!
Next Tuesday I am taking Natalie to visit a friend in Kenninghall - a SEN teacher who has just retired and has rescue ponies. She has invited lots of us over for the day.
I have a few friends to catch up with and a meal or two out planned.
I also hope to sort out all the bags of clothes we no longer need, paint the hallway wash the living room curtains, catch up on all the laundry etc , etc.
I have a list as long as your arm and I doubt I will get that much done :)
I AM going to be making cards though ;)

 Silly Season - 7 members of staff leaving for various reasons + end of term meals/parties. Three more this week . term finishes on 23rd July ( we can work from home if we want on that day  ) .

Watching (on TV)

 Wallander started last Sunday - if I can stay awake , I'll watch tonight.

 Once upon a time - Love this little bit of escapism (also on Sunday nights) 

Desperately Missing Steph. 

I do hear her sometimes giving me her opinion on things in my head .

Year 13 Prom

 I can't believe my beautiful niece didn't mind having her photo taken with us!

And how short am i with flat shoes!!!

Fundraising and Flowers

 An open house /cake sale at my sisters house. All in aid of my niece Eva going off with the 6th form to South Africa for two weeks this summer. She has been working hard organizing cake sales, band nights, washing cars and she still has a way to go.

 I gave her 100 of my cards to sell so cross your fingers.

 On Friday, my boss and I were given two bouquets of flowers each from yr 11's. The pink one smells amazing . They are so beautiful and after such a busy ,hectic week, make everything worthwhile.

 This one is all white .

I am sure that she won't mind if i take it to the cemetery tomorrow.

It will be 22 years since we lost darling Cavell on 1st July and My dad 5 years ago on 2nd. I have not been up to the cemetery since after passing  away in February, my sister Steph was interred in April .What with mum also there, it gets harder and harder. I am feeling very weepy at the moment but will go tomorrow.

Sore Feet!

 After dancing most of the night at the year 11 Prom. I love Prom but am always sad when they leave. They do scrub up well :) 

 The venue was "All Manor of Events" just outside Ipswich and I can highly recommend it. Lovely dinning area - lots of room ( especially as it was so hot) - good sized dance floor with doors that open to let in some air.

 I shall miss these girls - they used to pop in and see me every day - it will be a lot quieter in our department.

 We were there in plenty of time to watch everyone arrive and i love seeing the ways that they get there.

There was a studio for professional photographs and we all had lots taken , I don't think i have laughed so much.

Three weeks left of term, after next week, our yr 10's are on two weeks work experience so it will be REALLY quite in school. There are also loads of school trips , so I might be able to catch up at bit with all the paper work.

We have a sports award evening on Monday night and yr 13th Prom on Thursday night.

That Manic time of the year again!

Especially at school . Most year 11's have left now, last exams this week. Prom on Wednesday night  ( new dress arrived on Monday) Shopping for shoes tomorrow. I love the prom but wish it wasn't in the middle of the week. Yr 13 have theirs the following week (in the middle) , I usually take hubby to that one. Then two weeks of yr 10 work Experience and end of term.
 My Children all left school and are finishing college for the Summer in the next week or so. We just need some Sun now!
 Off to little Sisters next Sat to help raise some funds for my niece to go to Africa . Baking cakes and hopefully selling some cards.
 Ooh finally got round to getting my hair cut and some pretty golden low lights put in , will get a photo for you soon.

What a GREAT weekend!!

 Taken in the grounds. It was supposed to rain but I am glad to say that I didn't see any at all.

 Su brought props and frames for the photos - such a good idea!

 I eventually got every one to sit still and smile at the same time.

 Although it was difficult to get some people to behave at all!!

I had to blink at the wrong time of course.

It was a lovely, relaxing weekend - probably enjoyed this one the most . I Did NO scrap booking at all - unless you call a mini book scrap booking. I did make some ATC for a swap and 6 cards ( You can see these a bit later tonight i my other blog)

Looking forward to the next one ...shhh...Feb ( Creative HeArt and Soul ) .
