A Day In London

On Monday to see the Gorgeous Darren Hayes with my sisters.

 

Started off not so good as it was raining hard all the way down and Annette was waiting for a call to see if she still had a job!! Thankfully she does.

This is the very wet empty car park at the O2.

We got the tube into the city and headed straight for China Town for lunch.

It had stopped raining.

Lunch was lovely.

Covent Garden - I had never been before - very pretty stalls.

Very pretty sisters too! 

Although they don't believe me!

 The sun came out

A walk in the park..

To see the Queen - she was home .

I also stupidly raced my sisters up 5 flights of stairs in Waterstones while they took the lift- I couldnt talk for 20 mins!!

We wandered around the city shops for a while and then headed back to the O2.

The show - in the Indigo room - Brilliant seat as we could see everything ( not always possible as we are such shorties!!) We were close to the stage . The support act "The Candle Thieves" were good. 

I got told off for taking this photo and was not allowed to take any more .

Brilliant day - ended too soon.

A Happier House ..............

................For a little while. The wires came of megs teeth on Friday and the Palatal Stretcher came out  ( that was what was causing all the pain) . Four teeth have to come out ASAP and then just the wires go back on the braces. Hopefully it wont be too bad then.
The stretcher wasn't working - just making life very uncomfortable. While all this was happening and I am guessing her immune system low, she has managed to get a sore throat and head cold. She has had her flu injection so should be okay.
 We are enjoying a little peace today while the boys are at Football.
Next week is a very busy one but starts off quite nicely with a visit to the smoke to see this young man perform.

Nope ..not excited at all!!!

Some Days!

.....................are just so stressful. No matter what you do, no matter how calm you try to keep, how hard you work ............Some days you just have to say "Sod it!" Just to keep sane. Today may well be one of those :)
I AM fine but i shall be doing the minimum that i need to do tonight and will keep some quiet time for ME!

Poor Meg

New braces put in yesterday. We have to tighten them every night :( she also has to have a check up every week :(
My fault, we have awful teeth in our family - lots of us had an extra "eye" tooth- Megs was removed a few years ago but her jaw is too small for all those teeth and we have a hospital appoint next month for her to go in and have two wisdom teeth ( growing sideways!!) to be removed.
Being diabetic is hard enough food wise without having to make sure that it is soft or liqiud.
at the moment she is in pain  and very tired ( hence her colour) but we have given her ibuprofen, soft tooth brush, salt mouth wash - the dentis forgot to give us the gel and wax so we will have to pick it up in the week.
Anyone have any good tips for pain relief or recipes for college packed lunches, i will be very grateful.
So far we have :

milkshake
yougurt
jelly
custard

Need something savory ( apart from soup - she cant/wont heat it up at college)

Height of Summer

 I am far too short! But ......I am taller than my sisters (just!) 

I am about 5 foot -maybe - I think i am shrinking. 

The pic above is of me , a year 11 pupil ( of normal height) and my boss.

This is a photo of me , my beautiful niece, her mum , my sister is only 4 foot 10! She is wearing impossible heels but is still taller than me. My hubby is standing next to her- he is very useful in Tesco :0 I even loan him out ( to other little old ladies) to reach stuff on the top shelf.

I will try to get a photo of myself;f with Dan (our son) and hubby - that ought to prove comical.

Even though I am very short, i refuse to be intimidated by taller people - they DO try at school, but they don't get very far ;) I usually tell them that i am twice as tall as they are in my mind :)

The Reaction

Please excuse his chest! It is really hot and he never wears much except shorts most of the time - His ASD makes wearing clothes uncomfortable as well.

He is over the moon with the room and keeps coming up to me to hug me and say "thanks". I know he will keep it tidy (OCD ;)) And he even has the windows open at the moment.

He has not put any poster up yet and says he will leave it for now.

 

I need to do another room now :(

Finished

 I have even updated stuff on his PC. He needs a new chair but funds have dried up for the mo.

Hopefully he will like it, its lighter and has a tiny bit more space ( it is a VERY small room)

The windows have been open all week ( he never opens the windows or curtains !!) 

I would love to chuck this in the skip! I would like to get some cube storage with pull out boxes for this t shirts and shorts etc. Dan never throws anything away as part of his OCD he loves to collect stuff - i am in trouble for chucking away a few soft toy dogs that were under his bed but i have been really good and kept most things and even tidied them up a bit - i am sure he will get things the way he wants when he gets home late tomorrow.

The girls - waiting for our Chinese to be delivered. 

I need to do the bathroom and kitchen now!!

The Boys Room

 This photo was taken six years ago - That awful wallpaper is wood chip and was on the wall when we moved in ,in 1998!!!The skirting boards , door frame and radiator were painted purple and there were fire engines on the wall too. Poor boy- well over due a "do over"!

 Its a small room about 31/2 x 2 1/4 meters but it took me two full days to get that awful paper off.I was worried about what would be underneath. I found a couple of holes and a patchwork of different colours- could have been worse.

 I wallpapered just one wall ( the paper is from Next) and the rest of the walls I pained a soft Grey . With white radiator etc- already looks bigger, lighter and a lot cleaner.

 I LOVE the tab top curtains ( also from Next) 

Just stopped to have lunch and then will be laying the carpet and sorting furniture out- I have a desk , shelves and bedside table to assemble as well as lots of "sorting" or disposing of  as much as I can get away with. I am already in trouble for removing the window stickers. They are home on Sunday so I am well on track :)

Scarey

How quickly the time is going!! Already had nearly two weeks holiday :( I have been very lazy just pottering about recharging my batteries.I have read three books and am now half way though the fourth. caught up with the laundry (twice) ...They will keep wearing the bloody Clothes!
Tomorrow will be six months without Steph - I miss her SO much.
Chris (her ex boss) will be cycling 60 miles around the coast tomorrow to raise money for Macmillan Cancer in Steph's memory. Last year her had her cheering him on, I am guessing it will be harder this year. He like Meg, is type 1 diabetic so it is no mean feat. He has raised £3330 so far. How amazing is that! LINK
I shall be busy tomorrow as I have promised Dan that I would completely re do his room - I have exactly one week to do it in while he is away. I am crossing my fingers that there's nothing too awful underneath the woodchip paper already on the wall. It will be fun getting that off!!

Relaxing

 Watched this DVD at the weekend - very funny!

 We ALL ( yes ALL) went to Southwold on Tuesday. It was a beautiful day.

 We sat in the coffee shop on the pier.

 Walked from the beach into Town and back.

 Popped into a pub for a drink on the way home.

 Very pretty it was too.

Southwold survived ( although i did scare a pupil from school ;))

I had done loads of tidying and laundry - even spent two hours ironing yesterday. But today I read this book- yes the whole book! It was easy to read and a sweet story.

Tomorrow I have to dye Megs hair :(

Summer Holdays

Have now begun :)
We have said goodbye to all the staff leaving and retiring. 
I went to work today for the last time till September 3rd. Just to catch up on paper work and tidy up before the painter comes back to finish what he started at Easter.It was a nice day, especially as I was able to go in late, leave early and actually eat lunch at a table! There were only a few of us in so we all took picnic type food and shared a lovely lunch. I made Key lime pie.
The Summer hols look busy already and I am not even going away!
Tomorrow we are off to the beach for the day.
I am going to be saving £25 a week taking Natalie to her workshop twice a week instead of paying for a taxi- so that's Mondays and Wednesdays sorted.
I shall be re doing Dan's room - I did Megan's last year, so it is definitely his turn, especially as he still has trains on the wall ( the poor boy is 18!!). It needs to be completely re done and has that horrible anaglypta wallpaper on it - so that will be fun!
Next Tuesday I am taking Natalie to visit a friend in Kenninghall - a SEN teacher who has just retired and has rescue ponies. She has invited lots of us over for the day.
I have a few friends to catch up with and a meal or two out planned.
I also hope to sort out all the bags of clothes we no longer need, paint the hallway wash the living room curtains, catch up on all the laundry etc , etc.
I have a list as long as your arm and I doubt I will get that much done :)
I AM going to be making cards though ;)

 Reminds me of Steph so only listening to a few at the moment , finding it hard to listen to very much without crying .

 Silly Season - 7 members of staff leaving for various reasons + end of term meals/parties. Three more this week . term finishes on 23rd July ( we can work from home if we want on that day  ) .

Watching (on TV)

 Wallander started last Sunday - if I can stay awake , I'll watch tonight.

 Once upon a time - Love this little bit of escapism (also on Sunday nights) 

Desperately Missing Steph. 

I do hear her sometimes giving me her opinion on things in my head .
